These early “Progress Notes” were written before the NixonLab Substack began and are preserved here as part of the historical development of the work. They read more like diary entries than formal essays: provisional, exploratory, and written close to the events they describe. They should be understood as a record of the early observational period rather than as the current framing of the archive.
