And I feel that they there bear something of the character of the surrounding dendritic crystallisation pattern, suggesting that they possibly develop out of it, rather than having an independent development.

Haven't finished watching this yet, but my immediate thought on looking at this large rectangular structure is that the two lower 'legs' and two upper 'arms' look like they have developed from the dendritic crystal pattern - they don't look quite in line, but enough to make that seem likely.
